Don Franks is a professor in health physical fitness and chair of the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Maryland. Franks is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Academy of Kinesiology health physical fitness and Physical Education (AAKPE), health physical fitness and the Research Consortium of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation health physical fitness and Dance (AAHPERD). He is also a former president of AAKPE health physical fitness and the Research Consortium of AAHPERD. He was Senior Program Advisor for the President’s Council on Physical Fitness health physical fitness and Sports in 1995, health physical fitness and he received that group’s Distinguished Service Award the following year. He received his PhD in exercise science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Franks lives in Silver Spring, MD. Edward T. Howley is a professor of exercise science at the University of Tennessee, where he frequently has been honored for his excellence in teaching.
